Chemical Process Safety Manager

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Chemical Process Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives at their facility in Oxford . This senior position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive process safety management systems to ensure operational integrity and regulatory compliance. You will lead a team of safety professionals and work collaboratively across all departments to foster a robust safety culture. This is a critical leadership role focused on protecting people, assets, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for process safety management (PSM) across the organization.
• Oversee the execution of all PSM elements, including PHA, MOC, mechanical integrity, and incident investigation.
• Lead and mentor the process safety team, fostering their professional development.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant local, national, and international safety regulations and standards.
• Develop and deliver high-quality safety training programs to all levels of the organization.
• Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies on process safety matters.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field, with a strong focus on safety.
• Significant experience (10+ years) in process safety management, with proven leadership experience.
• Expert knowledge of industry-leading safety practices, standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH), and methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA).
• Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective safety management systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
• Professional safety qualification (e.g., CSP, CIOSH) is highly desirable.
