Chemical Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and knowledgeable Chemical Safety Engineer to join their dedicated team in Glasgow . This role is paramount in ensuring the highest standards of safety across all chemical operations, from research laboratories to full-scale production facilities. You will be responsible for identifying potential hazards, developing risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough risk assessments, including Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), HAZOP studies, and safety audits for chemical processes and facilities.
• Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and protocols across the organization.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on chemical safety matters, including safe handling of hazardous materials, emergency response planning, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels of the organization.
• Stay current with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations and ensure the company remains compliant.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in chemical safety engineering or a related EHS role.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety management (PSM) principles and regulations.
• Experience conducting HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk assessment methodologies.
• Strong understanding of chemical properties, hazardous materials management, and emergency preparedness.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence safety practices.
