About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Chief Mine Engineer to lead their engineering department supporting operations near Nottingham . This senior leadership role is responsible for the overall engineering strategy, mine design, operational efficiency, and safety across all mining projects. You will provide technical direction, mentor engineering teams, and ensure that all engineering activities align with the company's strategic goals and regulatory requirements. This hybrid role demands both onsite leadership and strategic remote oversight of engineering functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the mine engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, safety, and excellence.
- Develop and oversee long-term mine planning, design, and operational strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant mining regulations, health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Approve major capital expenditure projects related to mining infrastructure and equipment.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on complex engineering challenges.
- Represent the company in technical discussions with stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and industry partners.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production, reduce costs, and enhance safety.
Requirements
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in mine engineering and management, with a proven track record in leadership.
- Extensive knowledge of mining methods, technologies, and best practices for both underground and open-pit operations.
- Demonstrated success in managing large-scale mining projects and teams.
- Strong understanding of mine economics, feasibility studies, and financial modeling.
- Exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills.
- Experience working within a hybrid management structure.
