About the Role
Our client is seeking a knowledgeable Mine Ventilation Engineer to contribute to their underground mining operations, based near Nottingham . This crucial role ensures the health and safety of personnel by maintaining optimal environmental conditions within the mine. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing ventilation systems to control air quality, temperature, and humidity. This is a technically challenging position for an engineer passionate about creating safe and productive underground working environments, with a hybrid work arrangement offering flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize mine ventilation systems, including airflow distribution and fan selection.
- Conduct airflow and air quality surveys to monitor environmental conditions within the mine.
- Develop and manage ventilation plans to meet regulatory requirements and production needs.
- Analyze ventilation data and recommend improvements to enhance air quality and worker comfort.
- Troubleshoot ventilation system issues and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with mine planning, operations, and safety teams to integrate ventilation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to mine ventilation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on ventilation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering , particularly in underground mining.
- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and air quality principles.
- Proficiency with mine ventilation simulation software (e.g., Ventsim, Diffix).
- Knowledge of relevant mining ventilation standards and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
