Chief Mine Surveyor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Mine Surveyor to oversee all surveying activities for their operations near Leeds . This senior role is essential for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of spatial data used in mine planning, development, and production. You will be responsible for managing a team of surveyors, implementing the latest surveying technologies, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. This is a critical position that supports safe and efficient mining practices, providing accurate data for geological modeling, mine design, and operational execution, and offers the opportunity to shape the surveying strategy in a progressive mining environment, with a degree of flexibility in work location for reporting and planning tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and direct all mine surveying operations, including surface and underground surveys.
• Ensure the accurate collection, processing, and interpretation of spatial data using advanced surveying equipment and software.
• Develop and maintain survey control networks for mining activities.
• Prepare and review survey reports, plans, and maps for regulatory submissions and internal use.
• Train and mentor junior surveying staff, fostering a high standard of technical proficiency.
• Liaise with geologists, engineers, and management to provide essential spatial information for decision-making.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mine surveying , including experience with both surface and underground environments.
• Proficiency with total stations , GPS/GNSS, laser scanners, and associated survey software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).
• Strong knowledge of mining regulations and surveying standards.
• Experience with drone surveying and photogrammetry is advantageous.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and technical communication skills.
