Chief Mining Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and visionary Chief Mining Engineer to provide technical leadership and strategic direction for their mining projects, operating remotely to support sites across the globe. This senior role requires a deep understanding of mining engineering principles, operational challenges, and emerging technologies. You will be instrumental in setting engineering standards, driving innovation, and ensuring the safe and efficient execution of complex mining operations, guiding project teams from conceptualization through to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the engineering design and technical aspects of all mining projects, ensuring best practices are implemented.
• Develop and implement long-term mining strategies and technical roadmaps for resource development.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to mining engineering teams across various sites.
• Review and approve mine plans, feasibility studies, and capital expenditure proposals.
• Stay abreast of new mining technologies and assess their potential application to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant mining regulations, standards, and environmental policies globally.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in mining engineering, with significant leadership responsibilities.
• Extensive knowledge of various mining methods (open pit and underground), processing, and mine infrastructure.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary mining projects from inception to completion.
• Strong financial acumen and experience with mine economic evaluations.
• Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
