About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Chief Mining Engineer to oversee all engineering aspects of their operations in the Birmingham area. This senior leadership position is responsible for the strategic planning, design, and execution of mining projects, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and profitability. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term engineering strategies for mining operations, including resource extraction and processing.
• Oversee the design, construction, and maintenance of mining infrastructure and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines effectively.
• Lead and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
• Evaluate and implement new mining technologies to enhance productivity and sustainability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mine engineering and operations management.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale mining projects from conception to completion.
• Strong understanding of open-pit and underground mining methods, as well as mineral processing.
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
