Chief Sustainability Officer - Energy Sector

About the Role

Our client is searching for an visionary Chief Sustainability Officer to lead their sustainability initiatives within the energy sector. This is a senior, fully remote leadership position based out of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK , responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive sustainability strategy that aligns with global environmental goals and business objectives. You will champion efforts to reduce carbon footprint, promote renewable energy adoption, and ensure ethical and sustainable practices across all operations. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape the company's environmental legacy and drive meaningful change from a strategic, remote vantage point.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee the company's overall sustainability strategy and roadmap.
• Set ambitious environmental, social, and governance (ESG) targets and track progress towards achieving them.
• Lead initiatives related to renewable energy integration, carbon emissions reduction, and circular economy principles.
• Engage with stakeholders, including investors, regulators, and community groups, on sustainability matters.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote best practices in sustainable energy development.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in sustainability, corporate responsibility, or environmental management, with a strong focus on the energy industry .
• Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability strategies and programs.
• Deep understanding of climate change issues, renewable energy technologies, and ESG frameworks.
• Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
• Experience in managing remote teams and fostering collaboration in a virtual environment is essential.
