Child Development Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a committed Child Development Officer to join their innovative childcare centre in Edinburgh . This role focuses on facilitating the learning and development of young children through a play-based curriculum, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment. You will work closely with a dedicated team to support children's individual needs and foster their social, emotional, and cognitive growth. The hybrid aspect of this role will involve some remote administrative duties, such as report writing and resource development, complementing the on-site work with the children, providing a dynamic and flexible approach to early years care.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a varied programme of play-based learning activities.
• Observe, monitor, and document children's progress and development, providing feedback to parents and colleagues.
• Ensure a high standard of care, safety, and hygiene is maintained at all times.
• Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and the wider nursery team.
• Adapt activities to meet the diverse needs of all children, including those with additional support requirements.
• Undertake remote administrative tasks, including creating learning resources and writing progress reports.

Requirements

• SVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent qualification.
• Experience working with children in an early years setting.
• A thorough understanding of child development principles and the relevant educational frameworks in Scotland.
• Excellent communication, observation, and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and balance on-site and remote responsibilities.
• A proactive and caring approach to child development.
