Child Protection Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Child Protection Officer to play a vital role in safeguarding children within their organisation and associated services in the Reading area. This hybrid role requires a proactive approach to monitoring, assessing, and responding to child welfare concerns, combining remote administrative duties with essential in-person interactions and assessments. You will be instrumental in ensuring that policies and procedures are effectively implemented to protect vulnerable children, working collaboratively with external agencies to provide a robust safety net for those in need.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments and investigations into child protection concerns, documenting findings thoroughly.
• Develop and implement safeguarding policies and procedures across the organisation.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on child protection best practices.
• Liaise effectively with local authorities, police, and other relevant agencies on child protection matters.
• Offer support and advice to children, families, and staff regarding safeguarding issues.

Requirements

• Relevant professional qualification in social work, childcare, or a related field.
• Significant experience in child protection, safeguarding, or social care roles.
• In-depth knowledge of legislation and best practices related to child safeguarding.
• Excellent analytical, report-writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, managing caseloads in a hybrid environment.
