Childcare Assistant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a cheerful and dedicated Childcare Assistant to join their well-regarded nursery in Reading . You will provide essential support to the nursery team in delivering high-quality care and education to children aged from birth to five years. This role is fundamental in creating a welcoming and secure environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. Key Responsibilities

• Assist lead practitioners in organising and facilitating engaging play-based learning activities for children.
• Provide direct supervision and care for children, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being.
• Support children during meal times, nappy changes, and other daily routines.
• Help maintain a clean, tidy, and safe nursery environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
• Communicate positively with children, encouraging their language development and social interaction.
• Support parents and carers, relaying information about their child's day and development.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a childcare setting is desirable but not essential; a passion for working with children is key.
• A willingness to work towards a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare.
• Good understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
• Enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards working with young children in Reading .
