Childcare Development Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Childcare Development Officer to join their team in Cambridge . This role involves supporting the delivery and improvement of high-quality childcare services within the local authority area. You will work with providers, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance, promote best practices, and facilitate access to childcare. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in childcare and a passion for policy development and support to contribute to early years provision in Cambridgeshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advice and support to childcare providers to ensure compliance with regulations and quality standards.
• Assist in the development and implementation of local childcare strategies and policies.
• Monitor the quality of childcare services and identify areas for improvement.
• Support the registration and inspection process for new and existing childcare providers.
• Organise and deliver training and professional development opportunities for childcare practitioners.
• Work with parents to help them access suitable and affordable childcare options.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Early Years education, childcare management, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 4/5, Foundation Degree).
• Significant experience working within the early years sector, preferably in a management or advisory capacity.
• Strong understanding of childcare legislation, policies, and frameworks (e.g., EYFS, Ofsted).
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage projects and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel within the area.
