Civil Design Engineer - Flood Risk

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Civil Design Engineer with expertise in Flood Risk assessment and mitigation to join their team in Cambridge . This role is crucial for ensuring that new developments are resilient to flood risks and incorporate sustainable drainage solutions. You will conduct detailed flood risk assessments, design appropriate mitigation strategies, and collaborate with planning authorities and developers. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive flood risk assessments (FRA) for development sites.
• Design and specify effective flood mitigation measures, including flood defences and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and calculations to support planning applications.
• Liaise with the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate flood risk management into overall project design.
• Stay abreast of evolving legislation, policies, and best practices in flood risk management and drainage design.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrable experience in flood risk assessment and drainage design.
• Proficiency in flood modelling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller) and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of UK flood risk policy and planning guidance (e.g., NPPF).
• Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage projects and work effectively within a team.
