About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous Civil Design Engineer specializing in utilities and networks to join their team in Sheffield . This role involves the design and coordination of underground and above-ground utility networks, including water, gas, electricity, and telecommunications, for various development projects. You will ensure that utility infrastructure is designed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. This is a vital role in supporting the backbone of urban and rural infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design underground and above-ground utility networks, including potable water, foul drainage, gas, power, and fibre optic cables.
- Coordinate designs with utility providers, local authorities, and other project stakeholders to ensure seamless integration.
- Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and supporting calculations for utility infrastructure.
- Conduct site feasibility studies and investigations to inform design decisions.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, building regulations, and health and safety requirements.
- Assist in the procurement process and provide technical support during the construction phase.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design of utility networks.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) for design and drafting.
- Good understanding of the requirements of various utility providers and relevant national standards.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders and manage design interfaces.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
