Civil Design Engineer - Water Resources

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proficient Civil Design Engineer with a specialization in Water Resources to join their esteemed team in Edinburgh . This role is integral to developing sustainable water management solutions, including flood defence systems, drainage networks, and water supply infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop solutions for water-related infrastructure, such as flood alleviation schemes and surface water management.
• Perform hydraulic modelling and analysis for drainage systems, rivers, and reservoirs using industry-standard software.
• Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications for water resource projects .
• Conduct environmental impact assessments and contribute to permitting processes.
• Collaborate with environmental scientists, geotechnical engineers, and other specialists.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant environmental regulations and best practices for water management.

Requirements

• BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering with a focus on water resources or environmental engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of water-related infrastructure.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modelling software (e.g., InfoWorks, HEC-RAS) is essential.
• Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, and flood risk assessment .
• Experience with GIS software for data analysis and mapping.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills suitable for stakeholder engagement.
