Civil Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proficient Civil Design Engineer to contribute to significant development projects based in Edinburgh . This role focuses on the detailed design of infrastructure elements for urban regeneration, commercial developments, and residential schemes. You will be responsible for translating conceptual designs into buildable solutions, ensuring compliance with planning requirements and technical standards. Working within a supportive team, you will have the opportunity to develop your design skills and gain broad experience across various project typologies in Scotland's capital.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed civil engineering designs for site development, including drainage, road layouts, and earthworks.
• Prepare technical drawings, calculations, and reports using industry-standard software.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities, and statutory undertakers to obtain necessary approvals and Section Agreements.
• Undertake flood risk assessments and sustainable drainage system (SuDS) designs.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents and provide design support during the construction phase.
• Ensure designs are cost-effective, sustainable, and meet all relevant UK and Scottish building regulations.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil infrastructure design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydraulic modelling software (e.g., MicroDrainage).
• Familiarity with Scottish planning policies and building standards.
• Good understanding of highway design, earthworks, and drainage principles.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
