Civil Design Manager

About the Role

Our client, a highly respected civil engineering consultancy based in Cambridge , is seeking an experienced and dynamic Civil Design Manager to lead their design teams. This senior role requires a proven leader with a deep understanding of civil engineering principles and project delivery, overseeing the design process for a variety of complex projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality, efficiency, and innovation of all design outputs, mentoring engineering staff, and fostering strong client relationships. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multi-disciplinary design teams, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of civil engineering projects.
• Oversee the technical integrity and constructability of all designs, adhering to relevant standards and best practices.
• Develop and implement design strategies, processes, and quality assurance protocols.
• Manage client relationships, stakeholder consultations, and liaison with regulatory bodies.
• Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to business development activities, including bid preparation and proposal writing.

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer status (e.g., CEng MICE) or equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant experience (10+ years) in civil engineering design, with a proven track record in managing design teams and complex projects.
• In-depth knowledge of various civil engineering disciplines, including infrastructure, highways, and drainage.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with various project delivery methods and contract types.
• Familiarity with project management tools and techniques.
