Civil Engineer - Flood Defence and Coastal Projects

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to specialize in flood defence and coastal engineering projects within their Nottingham office. You will play a vital role in designing and overseeing the implementation of solutions to protect communities from flooding and manage coastal erosion. Key Responsibilities

• Design of flood defence structures, including embankments, seawalls, and flood storage areas.
• Undertake hydraulic modeling and flood risk assessments for rivers and coastal environments.
• Develop strategies for coastal protection and erosion management.
• Prepare detailed design reports, specifications, and contract documents.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, environmental agencies, and stakeholders to ensure project approvals.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase of flood defence and coastal projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a focus on water or coastal engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in flood defence, coastal engineering, or related hydraulic design.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM) and GIS tools.
• Strong understanding of coastal processes, wave mechanics, and flood risk management principles.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to manage projects and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
