Key Responsibilities

• Conduct flood risk assessments and develop detailed flood defence and mitigation strategies.
• Design and supervise the construction of flood alleviation infrastructure, including embankments, barriers, and drainage systems.
• Prepare technical reports, environmental statements, and consultation responses related to flood risk projects.
• Liaise with local authorities, environmental agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and stakeholder buy-in.
• Utilise hydrological and hydraulic modelling software to analyse flood events and assess the effectiveness of proposed solutions.

Requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in flood risk management or hydraulic engineering.
• Proficiency in flood modelling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, TUFLOW) and GIS applications.
• Knowledge of relevant UK and European flood risk legislation and guidance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills, essential for remote collaboration from Plymouth .
