Civil Engineer - Highways

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer with a specialization in highways to join their team in Derby, Derbyshire . This role is crucial for the development and maintenance of transportation infrastructure projects within the region. You will be involved in the design, planning, and supervision of highway schemes, ensuring they meet stringent safety, environmental, and performance standards. This hybrid position allows for a blend of in-office and remote working, offering flexibility while fostering team collaboration and contributing to significant regional development projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop highway schemes, including road alignments, junction improvements, and drainage systems.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and reports using relevant engineering software.
• Ensure designs comply with DMRB (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges) and other relevant UK standards.
• Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct site investigations and supervise construction activities for highway projects.
• Manage project timelines and resources to ensure efficient project delivery.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in highway design and infrastructure projects within the UK.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, and highway design software (e.g., KeyBridges).
• Knowledge of traffic management principles and road safety standards.
• Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and planning procedures.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
