Civil Engineer - Water Resources

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer specializing in Water Resources to join their team in Plymouth . This role focuses on the sustainable management, development, and protection of water resources, addressing challenges related to water supply, flood risk management, and environmental quality. You will be involved in a range of projects, from hydrological assessments and flood defence designs to water quality monitoring and treatment strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Undertake hydrological and hydraulic analysis for flood risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Design and specify flood defence structures, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), and river restoration projects.
• Contribute to water resource management plans, including supply-demand analysis and abstraction licensing.
• Assess water quality issues and develop strategies for improvement and protection.
• Prepare technical reports, design documents, and environmental statements.
• Collaborate with environmental scientists, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies on water-related projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on water resources.
• Experience in hydrological modelling, flood risk assessment, and hydraulic design.
• Proficiency with relevant software such as HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, or similar.
• Good understanding of water legislation, environmental regulations, and SuDS principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent report-writing capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
