Civil Highways Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a prominent civil engineering consultancy, is seeking a skilled Civil Highways Engineer to join their established team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role focuses on the design, planning, and delivery of highway infrastructure projects, playing a key part in shaping the future transportation networks in the region. You will be responsible for a range of design activities, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest technical standards. Key Responsibilities

• Design and development of highway schemes, including road alignment, junction design, and traffic management.
• Preparation of detailed technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents for highway projects.
• Conducting site surveys and feasibility studies for new road construction and improvement schemes.
• Ensuring designs comply with DMRB standards and other relevant highways legislation.
• Liaising with local authorities, statutory undertakers, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Providing technical input and support during the construction phase of highway developments.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in highway design, including proficiency with relevant design software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• In-depth knowledge of DMRB (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges) standards and practices.
• Experience with traffic modelling and analysis software is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of UK planning and highway construction processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a project team and manage design tasks effectively.
