Claims Handler - Motor Insurance

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent and efficient Claims Handler specializing in Motor Insurance to join their team in Portsmouth . You will manage the entire lifecycle of motor insurance claims, from initial notification through to settlement, ensuring a positive customer experience during a stressful time. This role demands excellent communication, organizational skills, and a methodical approach to processing claims accurately and fairly, adhering to company procedures and regulatory requirements. This is a key role within the claims department, contributing to the company's reputation for reliable and empathetic customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle incoming motor insurance claims efficiently, verifying policy details and coverage.
• Conduct investigations to establish liability, assess damages, and determine claim validity.
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with policyholders, third parties, and repairers throughout the claims process.
• Authorize payments for repairs, replacement vehicles, and other approved expenses within policy limits.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants and third parties where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all claim activities in the claims system.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Claims Handler , ideally within the motor insurance sector.
• Good understanding of motor vehicle repair processes and industry standards.
• Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in claims management software and standard office tools.
