Cnc Setter Operator

A well-established precision engineering company is seeking a CNC Machine Setter & Operator to join their team in Aylesford.

The Role

We are looking for skilled and proactive CNC Setters & Operators to set, run and maintain high-precision turning or milling centres. You will work independently on a range of materials, take full ownership of quality, and help keep production flowing smoothly and efficiently.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up CNC turning centres and/or vertical machining centres, selecting and preparing the correct tooling

• Load materials, establish datums, and run production batches with minimal supervision

• Carry out first-off and in-process inspections to ensure components meet drawing tolerances

• Identify and resolve machining issues quickly to reduce downtime

• Provide feedback on programme performance and suggest improvements to tooling or methods

• Complete works orders accurately and maintain clear production records

• Support machine care routines and highlight any maintenance needs

• Contribute to continuous improvement and help maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop

The Candidate – Essential

• Solid, up-to-date experience setting and operating CNC turning and/or milling machines

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and check work to tolerance

• Confident working independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy

• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach

• Organised, reliable, and willing to take ownership of quality and output
