About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join their established team in Coventry . In this role, you will be responsible for assessing and accepting or declining commercial insurance risks, ensuring profitable business for the company while providing excellent service to brokers and clients. You will evaluate financial data, inspect business operations, and apply underwriting principles to determine appropriate coverage and premiums. This is a critical position that demands strong risk assessment skills and a deep understanding of the commercial insurance market in the West Midlands .

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze commercial insurance applications, financial statements, and risk management data to assess exposure.
• Determine appropriate coverage, terms, conditions, and pricing for new and renewal policies.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurance brokers and agents to facilitate business growth.
• Monitor the performance of your portfolio, identifying trends and taking corrective action as needed.
• Stay updated on industry developments, market trends, and regulatory changes affecting commercial insurance.
• Collaborate with claims and actuarial departments to provide comprehensive risk insights.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Insurance Underwriter , specifically within the commercial lines sector.
• Strong understanding of commercial insurance products, market dynamics, and underwriting principles.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and data analysis tools.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills for building broker relationships.
• A degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field is preferred, along with relevant professional qualifications.
