About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and analytical Commercial Underwriter to join their established team in Coventry . In this critical role, you will assess and underwrite commercial insurance risks, ensuring profitable business growth while managing exposure effectively. You will work closely with brokers and agents, applying your underwriting expertise to make informed decisions on complex commercial policies. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite new and renewal commercial insurance applications, assessing risks and determining appropriate terms, conditions, and pricing.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and intermediaries, understanding their business needs and providing responsive service.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company strategies.
- Monitor the performance of the commercial portfolio, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting products and strategies.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience as a Commercial Underwriter within the insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance products, risk assessment principles, and market dynamics.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities for broker engagement.
- Proficiency in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Relevant professional qualifications such as ACII are highly regarded.
