About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Commercial Underwriter to join their established insurance operations based in Birmingham . In this role, you will be responsible for assessing and accepting commercial risks, developing profitable insurance portfolios, and building strong relationships with brokers and agents. You will analyze financial statements, market trends, and risk factors to make informed underwriting decisions. Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite a diverse range of commercial insurance risks, including property, business interruption, and liability.
• Analyze financial data, business operations, and risk management practices of potential clients.
• Determine appropriate policy terms, conditions, and pricing to ensure profitability and manage exposure.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and other distribution partners.
• Stay abreast of market developments, competitor activities, and regulatory changes impacting commercial insurance.
• Provide technical underwriting support and guidance to the wider sales and claims teams.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a Commercial Underwriter in the UK insurance market.
• Strong understanding of commercial insurance products, risk assessment, and underwriting principles.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial and risk information.
• Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective broker relationships.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and relevant insurance industry systems.
• A degree in business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
