Community Befriender Coordinator

About the Role

Our client is seeking an organised and people-focused Community Befriending Coordinator to join their team in Nottingham . This role involves recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers who act as 'befrienders' for isolated individuals within the community, particularly older adults and those experiencing loneliness. You will play a key part in fostering meaningful connections that enhance the well-being and social inclusion of vulnerable people. This hybrid role combines essential community-based recruitment and engagement activities with administrative duties at the office, offering a rewarding opportunity to build a strong network of support within the local area, combating social isolation and promoting community cohesion.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruit, screen, and train new volunteer 'befrienders' to provide companionship and support.
• Match volunteers with individuals based on compatibility, needs, and geographical proximity.
• Provide ongoing support, supervision, and recognition to the volunteer befriending network.
• Develop and deliver training materials for volunteers on topics such as safeguarding and effective communication.
• Maintain accurate records of volunteer activities, client interactions, and service outcomes.

Requirements

• Experience in volunteer management, social care, community development, or a related field.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate others.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for record-keeping and matching.
• Understanding of issues related to social isolation, loneliness, and the needs of older adults.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours.
