Community Sports Development Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a passionate and proactive Community Sports Development Officer to drive initiatives that increase sports participation and physical activity levels across Wolverhampton . This role involves working closely with local communities, schools, sports clubs, and partners to design, deliver, and promote accessible sporting opportunities for all ages and abilities. You will be key in fostering a love for sport and activity, making a tangible impact on the health and well-being of residents in the West Midlands . The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with a genuine commitment to community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement targeted sports development programs and initiatives within the local community.
• Engage with schools, community groups, and sports clubs to identify needs and opportunities for participation growth.
• Organize and deliver sports coaching sessions, taster days, and events for diverse age groups and abilities.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, including local authorities and sports governing bodies.
• Promote sports programs and events through various communication channels, including social media and local press.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of programs, collecting data and feedback to inform future planning in Wolverhampton .

Requirements

• Experience in sports development, coaching, or community engagement roles.
• Strong understanding of barriers to sports participation and strategies to overcome them.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects and events simultaneously.
• Relevant coaching qualifications (e.g., NGB Level 1/2) and First Aid certification are essential.
• A proactive attitude and a passion for promoting sport and healthy lifestyles in Wolverhampton .
