Community Sports Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a passionate and community-oriented Community Sports Officer to promote and develop sports participation initiatives across Derby . This role is central to increasing engagement in physical activity, fostering healthy lifestyles, and building stronger community connections through sport. You will work with local schools, community groups, and sports clubs to design and deliver accessible programs, engage diverse populations, and support volunteers. This position offers the chance to make a tangible difference in the community by increasing access to sport and physical activity for all ages and abilities, working in a flexible, hybrid capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and deliver engaging community sports programs and events, targeting underrepresented groups.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local schools, sports clubs, and community organizations.
• Recruit, train, and support volunteers to assist with program delivery and community outreach.
• Promote sports participation opportunities through various communication channels, including social media and local press.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, collecting feedback and data to inform future planning and reporting.
• Ensure all activities are delivered in a safe and inclusive manner, adhering to safeguarding policies and best practices.

Requirements

• Experience in delivering community-based sports programs or youth development work.
• Strong understanding of sports development principles and pathways.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with diverse age groups and community members.
• Experience in volunteer management is a plus.
• Relevant qualifications in sports development, coaching, or a related field are desirable.
