About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and resourceful Community Support Officer to join their vital homelessness services team in Brighton . This role is crucial in providing comprehensive support to individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness, helping them to secure stable accommodation and access essential services. You will work within the community, engaging with clients, assessing their needs, and coordinating support pathways. Key Responsibilities
- Engage proactively with individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness, building rapport and trust to understand their needs and challenges.
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments, identifying support requirements related to housing, employment, health, and well-being.
- Develop and implement personalised support plans in collaboration with clients, setting achievable goals and milestones.
- Signpost and refer clients to appropriate internal and external services, including housing providers, healthcare services, employment support, and benefits agencies.
- Provide ongoing support and advocacy to clients, helping them to navigate complex systems and overcome barriers to independence.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and organisational policies.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in social care, homelessness, housing support, or a related field is essential.
- Demonstrable understanding of the issues affecting individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Strong assessment, planning, and case management skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse client groups.
- Proficiency in IT, including case management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to work flexibly across different locations within Brighton and surrounding areas, potentially requiring some outreach work.
