About the Role

Our client, a respected architectural practice in Glasgow , is seeking a skilled Conservation Architect to join their specialist team. This role involves working on the sensitive repair, refurbishment, and adaptive reuse of historic buildings and heritage assets across Scotland . You will apply your expertise in historic building materials, construction techniques, and conservation principles to ensure the long-term preservation of architectural heritage. This is an ideal position for an architect passionate about preserving the past while designing for the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake surveys and condition assessments of historic buildings.
• Develop conservation strategies and repair proposals, respecting heritage significance.
• Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for conservation projects.
• Liaise with heritage bodies (e.g., Historic Environment Scotland), local authorities, and clients.
• Oversee conservation works on site to ensure high standards of execution.
• Advise on the implications of legislative frameworks for heritage assets.

Requirements

• Professional architectural qualification (RIBA or equivalent).
• Demonstrable experience in conservation architecture and heritage building projects.
• Knowledge of historic building materials, traditional construction methods, and conservation best practices.
• Familiarity with planning policy and listed building consent procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent report writing and communication abilities.
