About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Conservation Architect to join their specialist team in the historic city of Edinburgh . This role involves the sensitive repair, refurbishment, and adaptation of historic buildings and heritage assets across Scotland . You will be responsible for understanding the intricate history and construction of listed buildings, developing conservation strategies, and overseeing works to preserve their architectural integrity. The ideal candidate will possess a deep appreciation for heritage architecture and a meticulous approach to documentation and execution, contributing to the preservation of Scotland's rich architectural legacy. Key Responsibilities

• Undertake surveys and condition assessments of historic buildings and heritage assets.
• Prepare conservation management plans, repair specifications, and design proposals for heritage projects.
• Liaise with heritage bodies, local authorities, and statutory consultees to secure necessary approvals.
• Oversee on-site works, ensuring that repairs and interventions are carried out using appropriate materials and traditional techniques.
• Manage project timelines and budgets for conservation projects, maintaining high standards of quality and craftsmanship.

Requirements

• Professional qualification in Architecture with a postgraduate specialization in Conservation Architecture or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in the conservation and repair of historic buildings, including listed properties.
• Proficiency in using architectural software for documentation and visualization.
• Thorough understanding of historic building materials, construction techniques, and conservation best practices.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to advocate for heritage preservation.
