About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialist Conservation Architect to join their highly respected practice in Brighton . You will focus on the preservation, restoration, and sensitive adaptation of historic buildings and structures. This role requires a meticulous approach, a deep appreciation for heritage assets, and a comprehensive understanding of traditional construction techniques and materials. Working closely with heritage bodies and specialist craftspeople, you will ensure that historical integrity is maintained while addressing contemporary needs. This is an office-based role requiring site visits across the region and a commitment to protecting UK 's architectural heritage.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake surveys and condition assessments of historic buildings and heritage assets.
• Develop conservation strategies and detailed proposals for restoration and repair.
• Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and drawings for conservation projects.
• Liaise with statutory bodies such as Historic England and local planning authorities.
• Advise clients on best practices for the maintenance and management of historic properties.
• Oversee conservation works on-site, ensuring adherence to quality and historical accuracy.

Requirements

• Qualified Architect with a postgraduate specialization or significant experience in Conservation Architecture .
• In-depth knowledge of historic building typologies, materials, and construction methods.
• Experience in preparing listed building consent applications and heritage statements.
• Proficiency in relevant CAD software and an understanding of traditional drafting techniques.
• Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities, with a passion for heritage preservation.
