About the Role

Our client, a prominent construction company, is seeking a knowledgeable Construction Materials Specialist to support projects across the Oxford region. This hybrid role involves providing expert advice on the selection, specification, and application of construction materials to ensure optimal performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness. You will work closely with design teams, site engineers, and procurement departments, playing a critical role in material quality control and innovation. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically astute individual to influence the material aspects of significant construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on the selection and specification of construction materials based on project requirements and performance criteria.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure correct material application and installation.
• Conduct material testing and analysis to verify quality and compliance with standards.
• Investigate material failures and propose remedial solutions.
• Stay updated on new and innovative construction materials and technologies.
• Assist the procurement team in sourcing and evaluating material suppliers.

Requirements

• Degree in Materials Science, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience working with a variety of construction materials (concrete, steel, timber, composites, etc.).
• Strong understanding of material properties, performance standards, and testing methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with relevant British Standards and construction regulations.
