Construction Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and proactive Construction Planner to join their dynamic team based in Southampton . You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules for a variety of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope. This role requires a deep understanding of construction methodologies, critical path analysis, and resource management. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, and stakeholders to create realistic and achievable project plans. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and the ability to foresee potential challenges, providing strategic solutions to ensure project success in the Hampshire region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using planning software, incorporating all project phases and milestones.
• Collaborate with project managers and site teams to gather information and refine the construction programme.
• Identify potential risks and opportunities within the schedule and develop mitigation strategies.
• Monitor project progress against the plan and report on deviations, recommending corrective actions.
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to coordinate their works and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Prepare and present regular progress reports and updates to senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Construction Planner or in a similar planning role within the construction industry.
• Proficiency in industry-standard planning software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or Asta Powerproject.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and programme management techniques.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Relevant construction or planning qualification (e.g., HNC/HND, degree) is advantageous.
