*Contact Officer – Family Gateway Team – #OR111809

Cardiff Council is recruiting a Family Gateway Contact Officer to join the Family Advice & Support Protection Hub (FASPH) within Cardiff Children's Services. This is a hybrid, part-time role working 30 hours per week (4 days), with at least one day per week in the office at the Conference Centre, East Moors Road, Cardiff, CF24 5RR. The rate is £14.59-£18.92 per hour, starting 7 September 2026.

FASPH is an innovative, family-centred service providing information, advice, and assistance to babies, children, young people, families, and professionals across Cardiff. The Family Gateway Team works collaboratively with a range of partners to ensure support is delivered at the right level and right time.

The post holder will manage and co-ordinate multiple referrals - but will not carry a personal caseload. Contact with families and referrers is primarily via telephone and email. You will work closely with a dedicated Principal Social Worker who provides guidance and case discussion.

Ideal candidates will have a comprehensive understanding of the needs of children, young people, and families; proven ability to build effective working relationships; strong interpersonal and communication skills; and working knowledge of Microsoft Office or case management systems. Resilience, motivation, and a genuine passion for making a difference are essential. Experience identifying risk and knowing when to elevate is also required.
