Family Support Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and dedicated Family Support Officer to join their team in Cardiff , supporting families facing various challenges. This role is crucial in providing practical assistance, guidance, and emotional support to enable families to improve their circumstances and well-being. You will work closely with families in their homes and local community settings, building trust and facilitating access to resources and services that promote positive change and strengthen family relationships within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake holistic family assessments to identify strengths, needs, and potential risks.
• Develop and implement tailored family support plans, setting achievable goals and monitoring progress.
• Provide practical assistance to families with issues such as parenting skills, household management, and budgeting.
• Offer emotional support and signposting to relevant external agencies and services, including health, education, and employment support.
• Facilitate family group work and parenting programmes to enhance family functioning and resilience.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of interventions, progress, and outcomes.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in social work, early years, health and social care, or a related field.
• Previous experience working directly with families in a support capacity.
• Knowledge of child development, safeguarding principles, and common family challenges.
• Excellent communication, listening, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with diverse families.
• Proficiency in IT for record-keeping and reporting.
