About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Contracts Manager to oversee the commercial and contractual aspects of various construction projects, operating with a hybrid model from Stoke-on-Trent . You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and managing all construction contracts, ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risks, and optimizing commercial outcomes. This role requires a deep understanding of contract law, negotiation expertise, and the ability to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. You will be instrumental in safeguarding the company's interests while fostering collaborative partnerships throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, negotiate, and administer construction contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Ensure all contracts comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
Manage the contract lifecycle, including variations, claims, disputes, and final account settlements.
Monitor contractor performance and adherence to contractual obligations.
Provide expert advice on contractual matters to project teams and senior management.
Conduct risk assessments related to contract terms and propose mitigation strategies.

Requirements

Extensive experience as a Contracts Manager or in a similar legal/commercial role within construction.
In-depth knowledge of contract law and standard forms of construction contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT).
Proven negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
Strong understanding of the construction industry and project lifecycles.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities.
Law degree or relevant professional qualification is highly advantageous.
