Cover Supervisor – Witham

Full Time & Flexible Opportunities | ASAP Start | Secondary Education | Ideal Experience Before Teacher Training

🍎 Thinking about becoming a teacher? Start your journey with us!

Gold Education Recruitment is looking for enthusiastic, confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools in the Witham area.

Are you considering a career in teaching and looking for valuable classroom experience before starting your teacher training? This could be the perfect opportunity to get started!

Working as a Cover Supervisor is a fantastic way to gain hands-on experience in a school environment, build your confidence in front of a classroom and develop the skills you'll need for a future career in education.

You'll have the opportunity to work with students across different subjects and year groups, experience the day-to-day life of a secondary school and learn from experienced teachers and school staff.

Whether you're a recent graduate, planning to begin teacher training or simply looking to take your first steps into education, we'd love to hear from you!

What will you be doing?

As a Cover Supervisor, you'll help keep students engaged and learning when their usual teacher is absent. You'll supervise classes, deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students remain focused and follow the school's behaviour expectations.

You'll encourage pupils to complete their work, answer general questions where appropriate and create a positive classroom environment. You'll also work alongside other school staff to support students and help lessons run smoothly throughout the day.

You won't need to be a subject expert, as lesson plans and work will be provided. What matters most is your confidence, communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with young people.

No two days will be the same, making this a brilliant opportunity to discover different subjects, experience a variety of classrooms and find out whether teaching is the right career for you.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who is approachable, organised and confident working with young people. You'll need to communicate clearly, manage a classroom calmly and professionally, and adapt to different situations throughout the school day.

Previous experience working with children or young people would be beneficial, although candidates with transferable skills from tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work or similar roles are also encouraged to apply.

This role is particularly suited to graduates and aspiring teachers who want to gain practical classroom experience before starting a teacher training course. Previous school experience is advantageous, and full-time availability and an ASAP start are desirable.

Why work with Gold Education Recruitment?

We'll support you throughout your placement, helping you build experience and confidence as you take your next steps into education.

You'll benefit from competitive daily pay rates inclusive of holiday pay, weekly PAYE payments and guidance from a dedicated consultant. You'll also have the opportunity to experience different school environments, develop your classroom management skills and explore future opportunities in teaching.

If you're planning to start teacher training, working as a Cover Supervisor can be a valuable way to gain practical school experience and prepare for the classroom.
