Customer Services Transport Operator

Are you ready to take your transport career to the next level? We're looking for a high-energy, ambitious Customer Services Transport Operator to take ownership of a key client relationship within a fast-paced and commercially driven transport environment. This isn't a traditional customer services role. We need someone who understands transport from the inside out - someone who knows the pressures of planning, operations, service delivery and customer expectations, but who also has the personality and drive to build exceptional client relationships. You'll be the person the customer trusts to get things done. What will you be doing? You'll take ownership of a key strategic account, becoming a trusted partner to the client and the link between their expectations and the operational teams delivering the service. You'll be responsible for:

• Building a strong, credible and trusted relationship with the customer.
• Understanding their operation, challenges, priorities and future requirements.
• Working closely with transport planning and operational teams to deliver outstanding service.
• Taking ownership when things go wrong - finding solutions rather than finding excuses.
• Anticipating issues and acting before they become problems.
• Monitoring performance and driving improvements across the account.
• Managing KPIs, service levels and customer expectations.
• Leading performance conversations and identifying opportunities to add greater value.
• Challenging the status quo and looking for smarter, more effective ways of working.
• Ensuring the customer feels listened to, supported and genuinely valued.
• Ultimately, making the account successful. What are we looking for? Transport experience is essential. You could be coming from a transport planning, operations, logistics, customer service or existing account management background. What matters is that you understand how transport actually works and can combine that knowledge with exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills. We're looking for someone who can walk into a conversation with a customer and understand not just what they want, but why they want it - and what it will take operationally to deliver it. You'll need:
• Proven experience within transport and logistics.
• A strong understanding of transport operations and planning.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Experience dealing directly with customers and key stakeholders.
• Strong commercial awareness and a results-driven approach.
• The confidence to influence, challenge and negotiate when required.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• The ability to stay calm and positive when the pressure is on.
• A proactive approach - you see something that needs doing and you do it. And your personality? This is where you can really make your mark. We're looking for someone who is: Ambitious. You want to progress, develop and build a career. Dynamic. You bring energy, enthusiasm and ideas. Resilient. When things go wrong, you focus on fixing them. Proactive. You don't wait for problems to land on your desk. Goal-oriented. You're motivated by achievement and getting results. Flexible. You can adapt quickly when priorities change. Customer-focused. You genuinely care about the experience you deliver. Positive. You see challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles. What's in it for you? This is a role for someone who wants more. More responsibility. More exposure. More opportunity to influence. More opportunity to develop. You'll have the opportunity to manage a high-profile client relationship, broaden your commercial and leadership experience and develop skills that can take your career well beyond traditional transport operations. There are real opportunities for career progression and growth for someone who demonstrates the drive, capability and ambition to succeed. Salary & Benefits In recognition of the contribution you'll make, the package includes:
• Basic salary of up to £35,000, depending on experience.
• Company car or £7,000 car allowance, available following successful completion of the probationary period.
• Performance-related bonus.
• Annual salary review.
• Group pension scheme.
• Life assurance. Hours & Location The role is based at Aston, Birmingham, with working hours of Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm. To ensure you have the right foundation and understanding of the operation, initial training will take place at the Tamworth site before you move into your permanent base at Aston. Ready to make your next move? If you're an experienced transport professional who has the operational knowledge, customer focus and ambition to make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you. This could be the opportunity that takes your transport career to the next level.
