About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Cyber Security Engineer to join their dedicated security team in Wolverhampton . This role focuses on the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of security technologies and infrastructure designed to protect the organization from cyber threats. You will work with firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint security solutions, and other security tools to ensure a strong defense posture. This hybrid position offers a chance to work on cutting-edge security solutions while collaborating with a talented team.

Key Responsibilities

Implement, configure, and manage security tools and technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint protection.
Monitor network traffic and systems for suspicious activity, analyzing logs and alerts for potential security breaches.
Develop and maintain security documentation, including configuration guides and standard operating procedures.
Participate in security incident response activities, assisting in the investigation and remediation of security events.
Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to ensure security is integrated into all systems and network designs.
Stay current with emerging security threats and technologies, recommending and implementing appropriate countermeasures.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a cyber security or network security role.
Hands-on experience with security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAFs, and endpoint security solutions.
Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S) and common vulnerabilities.
Experience with scripting for automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python) is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
