Cyber Security Engineer

Our client is seeking a dedicated Cyber Security Engineer to join their expanding team in their state-of-the-art Manchester facility. This role requires an on-site presence, ensuring close collaboration and hands-on management of security infrastructure. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security solutions to protect the company's critical data and systems from evolving cyber threats. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and SIEM systems.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including policies, procedures, and network diagrams.
• Respond to security incidents, investigate breaches, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with IT infrastructure and application development teams to integrate security best practices into all aspects of the IT environment.
• Provide technical expertise and support for security-related projects and initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity engineering or network security.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and cloud security principles.
• Proficiency with security tools such as Nmap, Wireshark, Metasploit, and various firewall management platforms.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of security tasks is a plus.
• Relevant certifications like Security+, CySA+, or CEH are advantageous.
