Cybersecurity Analyst - Threat Detection

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant Cybersecurity Analyst with a focus on threat detection to join their security operations center in Glasgow . You will be at the forefront of protecting the company's digital assets by monitoring networks, identifying potential security threats, and responding to incidents. This role requires a sharp analytical mind, a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, and the ability to work under pressure. You will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity and security of our IT systems, ensuring business continuity and protecting sensitive data.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and logs from various systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls) to detect and analyze potential threats.
• Investigate security incidents, determine the scope and impact, and implement containment and eradication strategies.
• Develop and refine threat detection rules and signatures to enhance the effectiveness of security monitoring tools.
• Participate in incident response activities, including forensics and post-incident analysis.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.
• Collaborate with IT teams to implement security best practices and recommendations across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in a cybersecurity or security operations role.
• Familiarity with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and network security concepts.
• Understanding of common attack vectors, malware analysis, and incident response procedures.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or GIAC are a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
