Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Specialist to join their security team based in Nottingham . This role is pivotal in protecting sensitive corporate and customer data from unauthorized disclosure, exfiltration, or loss. You will be responsible for implementing, managing, and optimizing DLP solutions to enforce data security policies. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining regulatory compliance and safeguarding the organisation's reputation by preventing data breaches.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and manage Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools and policies.
• Monitor DLP alerts, investigate potential violations, and take appropriate remediation actions.
• Develop and refine DLP rulesets to accurately detect and prevent sensitive data leakage across various channels (email, web, cloud, endpoints).
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and IT teams to define data classification and DLP requirements.
• Perform regular tuning of DLP policies to reduce false positives and improve detection effectiveness.
• Stay informed about data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and ensure DLP solutions support compliance efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in information security, with a focus on Data Loss Prevention.
• Hands-on experience with major DLP solutions (e.g., Symantec DLP, Forcepoint, Microsoft Purview DLP).
• Strong understanding of data classification, data privacy principles, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience with network traffic analysis and endpoint security technologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
