About the Role
Our client is actively recruiting for a specialist Data Privacy Lawyer to join their forward-thinking legal team. This role, based in Glasgow, Scotland , is pivotal in ensuring the company adheres to stringent data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR and other international privacy standards. You will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive data privacy policies, advising on data processing activities, and managing data breach responses. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced privacy lawyer to lead on critical data protection initiatives within a dynamic organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's global data privacy strategy and policies.
- Advise business units on data protection implications of new projects, products, and services.
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and ensure compliance with privacy by design principles.
- Manage and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs) and other individual rights requests.
- Handle data breach incidents, including investigation, notification, and remediation.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on data privacy best practices.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with significant experience in data protection and privacy law .
- In-depth knowledge of GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and other relevant international privacy frameworks.
- Experience in advising on data processing agreements, cross-border data transfers, and data security.
- Strong understanding of technology and cybersecurity issues.
- Excellent communication, advisory, and problem-solving skills.
