About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and knowledgeable Data Protection Lawyer to join their esteemed legal team in Edinburgh, Scotland . In this critical role, you will be the primary point of contact for all matters relating to data privacy and compliance, including GDPR and other relevant legislation. You will advise the business on data handling practices, consent management, and breach response, ensuring the company operates within legal boundaries. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust data protection policies and procedures across the organization.
- Advise on the legal implications of new products, services, and data processing activities.
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and manage data subject rights requests.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on data privacy best practices and compliance obligations.
- Manage and respond to data breaches effectively and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on evolving data privacy laws and regulations, providing proactive advice.
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with a strong focus on data protection and privacy law .
- In-depth knowledge of GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and other relevant privacy regulations.
- Experience in advising businesses on data processing agreements and international data transfers.
- Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
- Proactive approach to risk management and compliance.
- Previous experience in a similar role or practice area is highly desirable.
