About the Role
Our client, a leading professional rugby union club based in Edinburgh , is looking for an innovative and experienced Director of Performance to lead their sports science and medical departments. This senior role is crucial in optimizing player physical and mental well-being, injury prevention, and rehabilitation to ensure peak performance throughout the season. You will oversee a multidisciplinary team, develop and implement cutting-edge performance strategies, and work closely with the coaching staff to align performance goals with the team's objectives. This position offers the chance to make a significant impact on elite athletic development within a high-performance sporting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the sports science, strength and conditioning, and medical teams.
- Develop and implement evidence-based performance programs to enhance player capabilities and resilience.
- Oversee player monitoring, data analysis, and reporting to inform training and recovery strategies.
- Implement comprehensive injury prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation protocols.
- Collaborate with head coaches to integrate performance strategies into the team's overall game plan.
Requirements
- Postgraduate degree in Sports Science, Strength & Conditioning, or a related field.
- Significant experience (7+ years) in a senior performance role within elite professional sport, preferably rugby.
- Expertise in strength and conditioning, physiology, biomechanics, and injury management.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Experience with performance analysis software and data management systems.
