Disability Support Worker

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join their team in Glasgow . This role is essential in providing high-quality, person-centered care and support to individuals with a range of disabilities, enabling them to live fulfilling and independent lives within their community. You will work closely with service users, their families, and other professionals to ensure that care plans are effectively implemented and meet individual needs. This is a hands-on role requiring empathy, patience, and a commitment to promoting dignity and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist service users with personal care, daily living activities, and domestic tasks, respecting their dignity and independence.
• Support individuals in engaging with their community, participating in social activities, and pursuing personal interests.
• Administer medication as prescribed, following strict protocols and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
• Accurately document all aspects of care provided, including any changes in condition or concerns, in line with organisational policies.
• Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and other support services to ensure holistic care.
• Promote independence and choice for individuals, empowering them to make decisions about their own lives.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a care or support role, preferably supporting individuals with disabilities.
• Understanding of person-centered care principles and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise and build rapport.
• Reliability, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
• Ability to follow care plans and protocols accurately, including medication administration.
• Willingness to work shifts as required, including evenings and weekends, in the Glasgow area.
