About the Role
Our client is looking for a specialist Drainage Civil Engineer to join their team in Derby , working a hybrid model. This role focuses on the design, planning, and implementation of effective drainage and flood alleviation systems for a variety of infrastructure and development projects. You will be responsible for ensuring that drainage solutions are sustainable, compliant with environmental regulations, and meet the specific needs of each project. This is a key role for an engineer with expertise in water management and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), contributing to environmentally conscious development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement surface water and foul water drainage systems for new developments and infrastructure upgrades.
- Utilize hydrological and hydraulic modeling software to assess water flow and manage flood risk.
- Ensure designs comply with Sewers for Adoption, local authority requirements, and environmental best practices.
- Prepare detailed drawings, calculations, and reports for drainage schemes, including SuDS.
- Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to integrate drainage solutions into broader project designs.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing drainage infrastructure and supervise installation where required.
Requirements
- A degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on water engineering or environmental engineering.
- Experience in designing drainage systems and implementing Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).
- Proficiency in drainage design software such as MicroDrainage or similar hydraulic modeling tools.
- Good understanding of UK water management regulations and environmental policies.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, collaborating remotely and attending site visits in Derbyshire .
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in technical assessments and design work.
